Bontrager R1 Road TireBontrager's R1 Road is a super tire for training rides, centuries and all-around riding. The round profile and lightly textured tread offer low rolling resistance and grip like glue in the corners while the lightweight, high-density casing provides a supple ride you'll love. Comments: This tire came stock on my Emonda S4. It's been a terrific tire for the 700+ miles of road and roller work. It does seem to wear really fast on the rollers but it's not stopped me from going from rollers to road. Traction seems good and stability at high speeds is perfect. Once spring comes I'm not sure I'll upgrade or just stay with a solid, inexpensive tire, considering the type of riding I do. I'm not sure how well the tire would hold up to race conditions. I've always been a Continental guy, but this tire may get me to change my mind.

Best Uses Comments: I got our bike in the beginning of July. My back tire blew July 20th after 150 miles, I did not run over anything. Then 2 days later, I noticed the threads showing on the front. So, needless to say, I did not go back to the R1's. Theses are basic stock tires, if you plan on doing any serious riding, do yourself a favor and put on Continental Grand Prix 4000S II.

Comments: Bought a pair of these and after about 100km the rear tire failed catastrophically due to a sidewall blowout.

Comments: The have been very puncture resistant and they wear great, I have about 2000 miles on them so far and will replace with the same.

Best Uses Comments: rides well, this was a stock tire on my Trek. 950 miles and almost a catastrophic blow out, thankfully I noticed the bump bump bump of the worn thru tread and fabric sticking out, I always check my tires and the pressure in them no cut but the tire was distorted and casing was now showing. This mileage is not very far for tires on a bike made for Iron-man type century rides and time trials...only translates to (20) 47 mile rides...not a great value .
